What We Believe

Welcome

If you're exploring Hill Village Bible Church and want to know what we're about, this is a good place to start. We love the Bible. Not in a casual,
occasional way — we read it, study it, wrestle with it, and try to live by it. Scripture isn't just something we reference on Sundays. It shapes how we lead the church, how we treat one another, how we serve our community,
how we support missions, and how we make decisions.
If something matters to us as a church, you can trace it back to God's Word.
But we want to be clear about something: what we believe isn't just a list of positions. Doctrine, for us, is lived. The things we hold to theologically show up in how we actually function — in the way we worship together, serve together, and care for one another. Belief and life aren't separate categories here.
At the center of everything is love. God's love for us — patient, pursuing, and unconditional — is what drew us here in the first place. And that love, once received, changes things. It shapes how we see each other, how we welcome strangers, and how we engage the world around us.
Love isn't a footnote at Hill Village. It's the point.
We're a community of people who are far from perfect, but who are committed to knowing God deeply and following Jesus faithfully — together. We think there's something beautiful about a group of people united around Scripture, sitting under its authority, and letting it form them into something they couldn't become on their own. Our full Statement of Faith is below.
We hope it gives you a clear picture of where we stand — and more than that, we hope you'll come experience it firsthand.

The Bible: Our Foundation

At Hill Village, we believe the Bible is God’s inspired, inerrant,
and infallible Word. It’s our ultimate authority
for what we believe and how we live. Every part of Scripture is
a gift from God to teach, correct, and guide us.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 – “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine,
for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness…”

Psalm 119:160 – “The entirety of Thy word is truth, and every one of
Thy righteous judgments endureth forever.”

Matthew 24:35 – “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away.”

The Bible doesn’t just tell us about God—it invites us into a relationship with Him.

One God, Three Persons

We believe in the Trinity: one God who exists eternally in
three distinct but equal persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
This mystery reveals the fullness of God’s love and presence in our lives.

Matthew 28:19 – “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”

2 Corinthians 13:14 – “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God,
and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all.”

Deuteronomy 6:4 – “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD.”

God’s triune nature shows us that He is relational by design,
and we’re invited into that relationship.

Creation, Angels, and Humanity

We believe God created the universe in six days and declared it good.
Angels, both faithful and fallen, serve God’s purposes, while humanity
—made in His image—was created to reflect His glory. Sin, however, has marred that image, leaving us in desperate need of salvation.

Genesis 1:1 – “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”

Colossians 1:16 – “For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven,
and that are in earth, visible and invisible…”

Psalm 8:4-6 – “What is man, that Thou art mindful of him?
… For Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels,
and hast crowned him with glory and honor.”

Despite our brokenness, God’s love reaches out to restore us.

Salvation: A Gift of Grace

Salvation is God’s free gift, given through faith in Jesus Christ.
Jesus died on the cross as a substitute for our sins, rose again,
and offers eternal life to all who believe.
Nothing we do can earn this gift—it’s all about God’s grace.

Ephesians 2:8-9 – “For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Romans 5:8 – “But God commendeth His love toward us,
in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

John 10:28-29 – “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish,
neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand.”

Salvation is a promise we can trust and a relationship we can treasure forever.

The Church: God’s Family

We believe the church is both universal and local—
a global body of believers and a community of faith.
At Hill Village, we gather to worship, pray,
study God’s Word, and serve one another.
Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are meaningful
ways we celebrate our faith together.

Acts 2:41-42 – “Then they that gladly received His Word were baptized…
And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine
and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.”

Ephesians 1:22-23 – “And hath put all things under His feet,
and gave Him to be the head over all things to the church, which is His body.”

1 Corinthians 12:12-13 – “For as the body is one, and hath many members…
 so also is Christ.”

We’re not perfect, but we’re learning to love God and one another more each day.

Living for God

We believe in living a life that honors God.
This includes upholding biblical standards for marriage, family, and relationships, while pursuing holiness and unity as His people.
Through the Holy Spirit, we’re empowered to live differently in a world that often opposes God’s ways.

Romans 12:1-2 – “Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God…
And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

1 John 2:15-17 – “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world…”

2 Corinthians 6:14-17 – “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers… and I will receive you.”

We strive to love God, love people, and reflect His light in every area of life.

The Future

We look forward to Jesus’ return with hope and joy.
The Bible promises His imminent coming,
the Rapture of believers, and His ultimate reign.
These future events remind us that history is moving
toward God’s eternal purposes.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 – “For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout,
with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God…”

Revelation 20:1-6 – Describes Satan’s binding and Christ’s 1,000-year reign.

Matthew 25:46 – “And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”

We live today in light of that glorious future!
